# Spec-driven development: GitHub trend and outlook to 2032

On TutorHero's Everything Index (September 2026), Spec-driven development is emerging on GitHub: 0.33 of every 10,000 new public repos carried it over the last three months, about 317 new repos a month, 12x its share a year earlier. TutorHero's 12-month forecast (damped growth, beat a flat guess on past GitHub lines) says rising (+113%). By the end of 2032, past GitHub lines in the same state ended between 0.01x and 2.5x of where they started, median 0.54x: a base rate, not a prediction of this line. In the 4 weeks to 2026-10-18, 424 new repos carried it, +8% against the typical tag. On Hacker News, about 6 stories a month carry it in the title (-46% share of HN in a year). Compared with the typical trend it is built more than talked about. It sits in the Coding agents megatrend. New stars on its tracked repos: 3.4k a month (-19% share in a year). Not investment advice.
